SAN ANTONIO, TX – During their 2022 Annual Meeting, CropLife America (CLA), the national association representing the manufacturers and distributors of pesticides, elected Andy Lee, president and CEO, Valent North America, as its newest chair of the CLA Board of Directors. Lee will hold the position for two years and use his diverse background to help guide the association. Andy succeeds Paul Rea of BASF Corporation who led the board from 2020 - 2022.

More Than 350 Organizations Voice Support for Existing Pesticide Law

WASHINGTON, D.C. - CropLife America (CLA) joined more than 350 organizations engaged with pesticide products in a letter sent to members of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives that affirms these organization’s support the pesticide regulatory system in place today under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA). The letter is in response to recently introduced legislation (S. 3283) that would undermine the science-based standards contained within our nation’s pesticide law. This is the second time these organizations have reached out to Congress to voice concern over similar proposed legislation.

Legislation seeking to ban individual chemistries and politicize the regulatory process undermines both the work of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s career scientists and a long-standing law that serves our nation well.

Agricultural Leaders Urge Farmers and Rural Communities to Get Vaccinated

Last week, more than 30 state and national agricultural organizations representing farm, commodity and agribusiness communities joined together to promote vaccination among farmers and other rural Americans. In an open letter to association members, the organizations added another voice to the call to get vaccinated. In addition, the groups utilized an opinion editorial published in the Des Moines Register to share a message about the important connection between agriculture, science, and health.

Ms. Savoie will work with independent researchers and others to explain how pesticides enable regenerative farming practices such as no-till farming and cover crops. Pesticides play a crucial role in meeting climate goals, promoting biodiversity, growing more food and fiber, and ensuring food security.
