CLA Acephate Comments Urge Consideration from Registrants

Following the Proposed Interim Decision (PID) for acephate, CropLife America (CLA) submitted comments to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). We expressed concerns about the proposed cancellation of all acephate uses, except tree injection, and urged consideration of detailed comments from registrants, growers, and stakeholders. Acephate is an affordable and effective treatment for many insect pests in various crops and is hard to replace due to a lack of alternatives and resistance issues. CLA recommended that the EPA consider data from the Acephate Task Force and registrants and suggested alternative label modifications for key crops like cotton to mitigate potential risks identified in drinking water risk assessments.
