Protecting Endangered & Threatened Species

CropLife America is leading the industry to deliver practical solutions that help farmers, manufacturers, and applicators navigate the EPA’s Endangered Species Act (ESA) requirements — protecting species while keeping approved crop protection tools available.

Collaborative Conservation Framework

For over a decade, CropLife America has worked with agencies, farmers, and conservation stakeholders to advance science-based endangered species protections that support both wildlife and access to essential crop protection tools.

By applying pesticides only when and where necessary and in the smallest amounts possible, this targeted pest management, combined with conservation activities, helps ensure the vitality of the monarch and promotes biodiversity on farmland.

CropLife America (CLA), the Agricultural Retailers Association (ARA), and the Council of Producers and Distributors of Agrotechnology (CPDA) have partnered on a suite of educational tools to help farmers, agricultural retailers, and pesticide applicators understand and comply with pesticide labels that contain ESA language.

Benefits of Pesticides

Pesticides play a vital role in modern agriculture. Without them, farmers would need twice as much land to grow the same amount of food.  Pesticides enable higher yields on less land, conserve water, and reduce fuel use and greenhouse gas emissions—protecting both the environment and our food supply.
