New Director of Regulatory Affairs to Provide Scientific and Technical Leadership

ARLINGTON, VA – CropLife America is excited to welcome Dr. Becca Haynie to the association’s science and regulatory team. Dr. Haynie will join the organization on July 10, 2023, as the director of regulatory affairs and brings with her years of experience in pesticide regulation and knowledge of current pesticide issues affecting pesticide retailers and end-users.

From implementing the new Pesticide Registration Improvement Act, to continuing to guide the Endangered Species Act (ESA) consultation process, it is vital that we have the best scientific expertise at the table. Dr. Haynie’s work will help ensure farmers, pesticide professionals, and consumers have the essential tools they need to grow our food and protect our health and homes,” Chris Novak, president and CEO of CLA said. “Dr. Haynie’s expertise in product registration, emerging technologies, and ESA, will help CLA successfully represent our members in the regulatory space.”

Previously, Dr. Haynie acted as senior federal regulatory manager at Syngenta Crop Protection, LLC, where her recent focus has been on EPA’s implementation of ESA across all formulations. Prior to joining Syngenta in 2020, Dr. Haynie gained experience in pesticide regulations on the compliance team at Walmart Inc. She had begun her career with the SePRO Corporation in Indianapolis.

Dr. Haynie earned both her Bachelor of Science in wildlife biology and Ph.D. in environmental toxicology from Clemson University and completed a Post-doc at the University of Georgia. She and her husband live on their third-generation family farm in upstate South Carolina. Dr. Haynie will occupy the role previously held by Dr. Ray McAllister, an agricultural science and regulatory expert who retired from CLA this spring after more than 34 years with the organization.
