CropLife America Promotes FACA Farm Bill Recommendations

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the Food and Agriculture Climate Alliance (FACA) released their sustainable agriculture, food, and forestry recommendations for the upcoming farm bill. CropLife America (CLA) is part of the 23-member Steering Committee that helped develop these farm bill recommendations to advance voluntary bipartisan climate solutions. CLA is proud to support the recommendations that were developed through months of collaborative work by a diverse group of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and agriculture, food, and forestry organizations.

“CLA recognizes the impacts of climate change and the crucial role pesticides play to help enable climate-smart agriculture. Sustainable agriculture systems that rely on pesticides are essential to preventing deforestation, sequestering greenhouse gases, and preserving wildlife habitat and biodiversity. Through our work with FACA, we have been able to engage with a variety of organizations to support efforts to develop the most effective and precise solutions to pest challenges while protecting our environment,” said Chris Novak, CropLife America President and CEO.

“We look forward to working with the other members of FACA to help ensure the recommendations outlined today are included in the next farm bill.”

CLA served alongside other FACA members in co-chairing FACA’s Research, Extension, and Innovation (REI) working group FACA’s REI recommendations focus on:

  • Helping to ensure USDA Climate Hubs maximize research opportunities and outreach;

  • Facilitating innovation to build strong and sustainable agriculture and food systems;

  • Reauthorizing and funding the Research Facilities Act;

  • Strengthening grant programs through the Cooperative Extension System; and

  • Providing consistent and comprehensive evaluation mechanisms for climate-smart agriculture practices, including measurement, verification, and data collection.
